Late Summer 2013
Please take a look at our updated program info - our music director has chosen four programs that should appeal to every musical taste. There may be changes as the season continues, so check back often.
After over thirty years of rehearsing and performing at the college, the Pops has recently
been told (via email to orchestra manager Marilyn Pierik) that: 1) we are to be charged
$25.00 per hour for the use of room AC2102 for our rehearsals - that would be $75.00
each Tuesday evening; and 2) AC2102 will not be available to the Pops during the
upcoming (2013-2014) concert season. We have appealed to the college board of directors, to no avail. This does not affect our concert performances, as “performing arts” and “instrumental classes” are two individual departments in the college. It does mean, however, we have had to find a new venue in which to rehearse, which will still have some financial impact on our group. Any and all donations to help defray our “rehearsal space expenses” will be gratefully accepted. Thank you for your support.
As many of you are aware, a lot of what the Pops does would be impossible without the hard work of volunteers; that includes our webmaster, Erik, who currently is working as a long-haul truck driver. We thank you for your patience with our lack of progress at times in getting updates on the site. We continue to look for ways to improve.
We thank you for your continued interest in and support of the Mt. Hood Pops Orchestra, dedicated to enriching our community through music.
